I was going to wait until Election Day 2020 to release the most angry, hard-rock song I've ever written and recorded, but after the 'debate' last night, the time is NOW! So, I'm leaking "Of Candles, We're Keepers" exclusively to Bandcamp IMMEDIATELY! Stream or download it free. Or pay what you can and everything you give, plus my personal match, will go completely to Black Lives Matter, the Anti-Defamation League, and the Biden Campaign. So light up those candles and let 'em see us!
Most of us have been worried and full of rage for four years, but the 'debate' last night ended my attempts to keep a wall between my music and my belief that what we are witnessing is anything less than the end of our dignity, the end of our unity, of our nation. We are flirting with extinction!
"Of Candles, We're Keepers" is dedicated to those who have been peacefully in the streets, starting with the Women's Marches in 2016. To all those keeping the candle burning for TRUTH, CIVIL RIGHTS, EQUALITY, INCLUSIVENESS and (it's so sad to even have to add this) SIMPLE DECENCY!
The lyric is speaking directly to the MONSTER SWINE himself…
lyrics
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
I, believe in change
It’s the only thing
That stays the same
And I, believe in streets
Where dead ideas
Taste their defeat
And if anyone tells me no
Should anyone tell us no
They’ll be proven wrong
I am the believer
Not in snakes and Tweeters
Not in hate and fever
My head is my very own
We are the believers
No one pulling our lever
Ain’t buying your theater
Don’t you let them in your home
We are the believers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
I, believe in songs
King’s mountain high
Sings right to wrong
And I, believe in loud
In my guitar
It parts the clouds
And if anyone tells me no
Should anyone tell us no
They’ll be proven wrong
They’ll be proven wrong
I am the believer
Not in snakes and cheaters
Not in hate and fever
My head is my very own
We are the believers
No jerk pulling our lever
Ain’t buying your theater
Don’t you let them in your home
I ain’t no blind man’s monkey
You can’t bully or punk me
Ain’t scared of your flunkies
There’s a million more marching behind (me)
We got the numbers to cool you
Got the factories to glue you
What you did we’ll undo, yeah
Till there’s nothing left to you
We are the believers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
If anyone tells you no
Should anyone tell us no
They’ll be proven wrong
They’ll be proven wrong
We are the believers
Not in snakes and cheaters
Not in panic and fever
Our heads are our very own
We are the believers
No jerk pulling our lever
Ain’t buying your theater
Don’t you let them in your home
I ain’t no blind man’s monkey
You can’t bully or punk me
Ain’t scared of your flunkies, no
There’s a million more marching behind (me)
We got the numbers to cool you
Got the factories to glue you
What you did we’ll undo, yeah
Till there’s nothing left to you
We are the believers
We are the believers
We are the believers
We are the believers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
Of candles we’re keepers
I, believe in change
It’s the only thing
That stays the same

profound power pop with arena-sized showmanship, a troubadour on an all night rave up, a cold kombucha on a hot California day, a McCartney-ite taking a break from his Japanese import of “Ram” for a quick Canyon run listening to João Gilberto....more

Terrific jangle pop with an edge, somewhere between Television Personalities and R.E.M. with a bit of Kinks in there, too. Bandcamp New & Notable Nov 2, 2023
This Calgary group makes goth-y post-punk attired in the brightly colorful arrangements of bleep-boop synthesized psychedelia. Bandcamp New & Notable Feb 3, 2024
