Sleep is all I need It should come naturally I’m lost if I’m awake I toss this way and that Stare at where you slept And think of bitter sweet I can’t sleep Knowing I’ll never sleep beside you I’ll never dream No ‘cuz my dream’s to live my life around you For me there’ll be no peace, no peace for me Sun down fills up with dread A pill to fix my head I’m carrying the weight I can’t sleep Knowing I’ll never sleep beside you I’ll never dream No ‘cuz my dream’s to live my life around you For me there’ll be no peace, no peace for me Then suddenly a footfall on a floorboard Down the staircase in the hallway, no That’s you leaving without saying goodbye No goodbye, no good, then why’d Show me love You gave me love You showed me your love I can’t sleep Knowing I’ll never sleep beside you I’ll never dream No ‘cuz my dream’s to live my life surroundin’ you For me there’ll be no peace, no peace for me My head may never rest Till I feel your sweet caress And you whisper sweetly sleep

about

Recorded live in a Laurel Canyon living room, on a cool but sunny afternoon, perched high among 100' eucalyptus trees that magically cling to the sides of a Hollywood Hill. The band, LA-based aces all, includes Dan Kalisher (guitar/pedal steel), Erik Kertes (bass), Mark Stepro (drums) and Ryan Perez-Daple (sax). The height of in-the-moment musical expression, the band had never rehearsed these songs before. The accompanying videos show off all the free-wheeling joy.

Willie Wisely Saint Paul, Minnesota

Equal parts Minnesotan music scene veteran and Laurel Canyon resident/devotee, Willie Wisely remains that rare bird mixing profound power pop with arena-sized showmanship, a troubadour on an all night rave up, a cold kombucha on a hot California day, a McCartney-ite taking a break from his Japanese import of “Ram” for a quick Canyon run listening to João Gilberto. ... more
